The wide variety of hormones, the source is complex, according to its chemical properties can be divided into two categories (Table 11-1):
(i) Nitrogen-containing hormones
1. Peptides and protein hormones are mainly hypothalamus-regulating peptides, neuropititic hormones, pituitary hormones, insulin, parathyroid hormone, calcicalcin and gastrointestinal hormones.
2. Amine hormones include epinephrine, norepinephrine and thyroid hormones.
(ii) Steroid (steroid) hormone
Steroid hormones are hormones secreted by the adrenal cortex and the gonads, such as cortisol, aldosterone, estrogen, progesterone, and androgens. In addition, the derivative of cholesterol, serotonin, 1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D3 is also treated as a hormone.
In addition, prostaglandinis is widely present in many tissues, from peanut tetraoleic acid transformation, mainly in the tissue local release, can regulate local functional activities, so the prostate can be treated as a group of local hormones.
